Industry looks at ALRB-UFW’s ‘increasingly complex quagmire’

The State of California and the UFW have created a “continuing, increasingly complex quagmire that masquerades as protecting California farm workers’ rights,” an industry publication reports. California Ag Today is on part 4 of a revealing series of articles called “Who Safeguards CA Farm Workers’ Rights?” The answer, according to the article, is that the state agency empowered to protect farmworkers’ rights isn’t doing its job at all. The Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), created in 1975, has become an artificial life…

New brochure describes Isadore Hall’s cronyism

A new brochure is circulating that describes Isadore Hall’s cronyism and explains why he should be removed from the state Agricultural Labor Relations Board. “Isadore Hall marched to oppose thousands of immigrant farm workers – The exact same farm workers he will judge daily at ALRB,” the brochure says. We at Pick Justice produced the flyer. Senate chief Kevin de Leon: ‘Nothing unseemly’ is going on here

Allegations of “cronyism” have gotten under Senate leader Kevin de Leon’s skin. He didn’t like how critics of former senator Isadore Hall – the subject of heated Senate debate for ALRB confirmation – said that Hall’s appointment reeked of cronyism. “The word cronyism is highly misplaced at this moment,” de Leon said on the Senate floor April 20. “It is not being used properly. It gives that perception to the larger public that something unseemly is happening,” he said. For…

Joaquin Arambula sticks it to farmworkers who don’t pay UFW

Joaquin Arambula doesn’t support Central Valley farmworkers. The Fresno politician, a member of the California state assembly, has ignored farmworkers’ repeated pleas for his support against the corrupt and abusive Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB). Instead of helping his constituents, Arambula is backing the UFW union and its ALRB government enforcement arm. Arambula cares only for the less than 1% of California farmworkers who pay money to the UFW. He doesn’t care about the rest of us. Pick Justice first met…

Make $142,000 a year part-time with no experience: The Isadore Hall story

Easy Money: Los Angeles Times editors call Isadore Hall‘s ALRB job part of the “shameful” and “loathsome” crony culture of California politics. Our video shows how the Isadore Hall got a six-figure, part-time, taxpayer-funded job to supervise farmworkers, even though the LA Times says he’s unqualified. Hall is a loyal tool of the UFW union, and he’ll use his office to exploit farmworkers for political gain. Screen shots from our Isadore Hall “That’s California, Folks!” video

Los Angeles Times: Isadore Hall on ALRB is part of ‘shameful’ & ‘loathsome’ crony system

Isadore Hall’s appointment to the Agricultural Labor Relations Board is a symptom of what the Los Angeles Times editorial board calls the state’s “shameful” and “loathsome” crony politics. “What does a career politician from urban Los Angeles County know about the state’s agricultural industry?” the Times asked, echoing not only farmers but farmworkers, too. “The concern about experience is reasonable,” the Times editorial board said. “This quasi-judicial board rules on workplace disputes over allegedly unfair labor practices and other complaints, some brought…
