Full text of what ALRB judge said about UFW VP Armando Elenes

Even though the ALRB shows incestuous partiality toward the UFW, its administrative “judge,” Mark Soble, doesn’t think much of the union’s vice president, Armando Elenes. Soble also noted the high stakes for the union in forcing Gerawan workers into an ALRB-imposed UFW contract. The ALRB judge noted that the UFW was concerned that its “smallness” contrasted badly with the many thousands of workers at Gerawan. “Most probably Elenes was concerned about conceding the smallness of existing UFW membership, especially in…

UFW VP ‘Chilito’ Elenes: Credible to attack Gerawan, but otherwise a liar, Soble says

UFW Vice President Armando Elenes is a liar, but is a reliable witness against Gerawan employers and workers, according to the ALRB’s own administrative law judge. Soble of the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), said that UFW National Vice President Armando Elenes was “lying” when he said he couldn’t even estimate the paid membership of the declining union. The United Farm Workers has exaggerated its membership on its filings with the U.S. Department of Labor,…

Judge says UFW VP “Elenes was lying”

United Farm Workers Vice President Armando Elenes was “lying” to the Agricultural Labor Relations Board during testimony against Gerawan Farming, an ALRB judge has found. “I reach the inescapable conclusion that Elenes was lying” during his testimony, ALRB Administrative Law Judge Mark R. Soble stated in his 192-page ruling. “As a result, for me, this seriously undermined the credibility of Elenes as to his other answers.” In that same ruling, Soble said that the 2013 ballots of Gerawan farmworkers to decertify the…
